It is a gentle and effective method to reduce unwanted hair growth using advanced diode and IPL laser technology. The treatment is individually customized based on skin type and hair color and is suitable for both women and men. It can be applied to areas such as the face, underarms, legs, back, and intimate zones (intimate treatment is only offered for women). After just a few sessions, most people experience a significant reduction in hair growth as well as fewer problems with ingrown hairs and skin irritation. The treatment course begins with a free consultation, during which a plan is made according to your needs. To achieve lasting results, multiple treatments are typically required since the laser only works on hairs in the growth phase. After completing the course, annual follow-up treatments are recommended to maintain the results. The treatment is almost painless thanks to modern equipment with built-in cooling, and there is minimal recovery time.

What is diode hair removal?
Diode laser is a system used to treat unwanted hair growth. It works by illuminating the targeted treatment area with a powerful light pulse in milliseconds, which is converted into heat in the pigmented hairs. The heat is then channeled to the hair follicles, destroying them at a sufficiently high intensity. Only some of the hair follicles can be targeted at the same time because hairs in the area are in different growth phases, so multiple treatments are necessary to target all follicles in the area where hair reduction is desired.
Usually, about 6-10 treatments spaced 1-2 months apart are required to achieve maximum hair reduction. However, more treatments may be needed, which is very individual.
Hairs should ideally be about 1 mm long at the consultation for proper assessment.
Which areas can be treated?
We can treat all hairy parts of the body, except male intimate areas. Only dark hairs can be treated.
How does the treatment work?
It is important that the skin is not sunburned during treatment, so you must avoid sun exposure on the desired treatment area 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after the treatment, and avoid using self-tanning products 2 weeks before. The area must be shaved, and you must not have used tweezers or an epilator for 6-8 weeks before the treatment and between treatments, as this will reduce the effect.
The treatment feels like a prickling warmth, which can be felt on the skin for several minutes afterward. You may take 1 gram of paracetamol about 1 hour before treatment to reduce any discomfort.
If you come to the treatment “unshaved” and want laser treatment and shaving done at the clinic, please be aware there is an increased risk of skin irritation, wounds, and possible side effects after the laser treatment.
We always recommend using sunscreen before and after treatment with SPF 50+ including UVA and UVB filters.
What is the effect of the treatment?
The treatment is most effective when the skin is light and the hairs are dark. People with dark skin can also be treated, but more treatments may be required because the intensity must be adjusted initially to avoid burns due to the darker pigment.
After a treatment, most hairs will usually (but not always) fall out after about 2 weeks. 100% hair removal cannot be guaranteed after a series of treatments, but on average up to about 80% reduction in hair number can be expected, and the remaining hairs are typically thin and too light to be treated. Maintenance treatments will always be necessary, as new hair follicles are activated throughout life.
If you have underlying hormonal disorders, for example, hirsutism due to elevated testosterone, continuous treatments must be expected. Many treatments may also be needed for people with dark skin or those who experience paradoxical hair growth (see side effects).
After the treatment course, about 1 maintenance treatment per year is recommended.
It is important to set expectations before treatment. No refunds will be made for the treatment.
Who cannot be treated?
Pregnant women
Relevant allergies
If you have light-colored hair
If you have tattoos or permanent makeup in the area to be treated
If you have keloid formation
If you have an active skin disease or skin cancer
If you are taking medication or herbal remedies that cause photosensitivity
If there is an active infection in the area, including active herpes
If you have epilepsy
If you have had sun exposure 4 weeks before or used self-tanning products 2 weeks before on the treatment area
Possible side effects?
The skin will become red and warm immediately after treatment, often felt like a mild sunburn. Some patients may experience swelling lasting from 2 hours up to 3 days.
The treated area can be washed daily with water and soap. Ice packs can be applied to the treated area for 10 minutes every hour for the first 4 hours if needed. Avoid peeling products.
A few patients may experience some fluid discharge from the hair follicles after treatment. The fluid will dry as a yellow-brown thin crust around the follicles and will disappear on its own within a few days.
In rare cases, burns with wounds can occur after treatment, and in the worst cases, permanent scarring may result – this is extremely rare. Pigment changes in the treated areas may occur, causing the areas to become lighter or darker than the surrounding skin. This risk is greatest for people with dark skin or those who have not followed sun exposure recommendations. Pigment changes are difficult to treat but usually fade over months to years with the use of sunscreen.
Very rarely, paradoxical increased hair growth may occur in the treated area (especially on the sides of the face where fine hair can appear, particularly in clients with dark skin types). Sometimes the area affected can be difficult to define. In rare cases, hair up to 1/2 cm from the treated site may be removed due to heat diffusion under the skin, which cannot always be anticipated by the practitioner. A common example is tattoo burns if the laser is too close.
