It is a non-surgical procedure suitable for both men and women experiencing early hair loss or thinning hair. The treatment involves drawing a small amount of blood from the patient, which is then processed to extract plasma rich in growth factors. This plasma is injected into the scalp to stimulate dormant hair follicles and promote natural hair growth, as well as improve hair density and strength. Typically, 3–4 treatments are recommended at 4–6 week intervals, followed by maintenance treatments every 6–12 months. The procedure is minimally invasive, and any side effects are usually limited to temporary soreness or mild swelling. PRP is most effective in individuals with intact hair follicles and is not suitable for everyone. A consultation with a qualified specialist is necessary to assess suitability and create a personalized treatment plan.

What is hair loss?
It is normal to lose between 100 and 150 hairs per day, but if you lose more than this, you may experience thinning hair, and in some cases, actual hair loss. Hair loss can occur at different ages and is often caused by a combination of genetics, health conditions, stress, and natural aging. Over time, hair strands become finer, which can mean losing more hair than grows back.
Around 80% of men and 20% of women in our part of the world experience androgenic alopecia, a condition where hair follicles weaken, shrink, and gradually lose their ability to hold onto the hair strand. In men, hair loss typically shows as a receding hairline at the temples and a bald crown, along with uneven beard growth. Women often experience hair loss in the forehead area and on the crown, but this hair loss is usually milder and more diffuse compared to men.
What is PRP?
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is a non-surgical treatment that can help with both genetic and age-related hair loss by using your own cells to create regeneration and growth of cells.
We draw a small amount of blood from you using a specially developed syringe that consists of a completely closed, sterile, and safe system. The syringe is developed by Arthrex, a company that has had great success with this treatment for many years.
The blood in the syringe is then centrifuged in a special centrifuge for 5 minutes. During this process, the active cells in the plasma are extracted, which we use for the treatment. These cells are your own and consist of growth factors and repairing cells that strongly stimulate the tissue into which they are injected. For hair loss treatment, the plasma is injected with a very fine needle at the optimal depth in the scalp or face to stimulate new growth in the hair follicles.
We use a highly advanced centrifuge from Arthrex, which has a special soft-spin protocol that ensures the highest possible preservation of platelets during the process compared to other centrifuges on the market.
The treatment is 100% natural, with no chemical additives. Simply put, your own cells do the work.
Which areas can be treated?
PRP for hair loss can be used anywhere you want to stimulate stronger hair growth.
How does the treatment work?
We take a blood sample from you (15 ml), which is then centrifuged to extract the platelet-rich plasma needed for the treatment. The product is injected into the desired treatment area with a very thin needle. The treatment is not completely painless; a stinging and burning sensation may occur but will quickly subside. As a rule, no topical anesthetic creams are applied before treatment.
A good hair wash before the treatment is recommended. Drink plenty of water 24 hours before the treatment to optimize blood concentration. Avoid anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or aspirin) one week prior, as well as alcohol, blood thinners, and supplements the day before.
You should avoid touching the treated area for 4 hours after the treatment due to infection risk. Makeup on the area is also discouraged during this time. Hair washing should be avoided for 24 hours after the treatment.
Until swelling has completely subsided, extreme heat such as sun exposure and sauna is not recommended. Direct cooling with ice is also discouraged.
What is the effect of the treatment?
The treatment result will always be individual because everyone’s starting point is different, but in all cases, blood supply to the hair roots is stimulated, and the hair growth phase is extended. Most will see results after 3-5 treatments.
Treatments should be done at 4-week intervals and at least 5-7 times for optimal results. Sometimes more treatments are required.
Afterwards, it should be expected that maintenance treatments every 6 months will be needed to maintain the result.
It is important to set realistic expectations before treatment. Treatment fees are non-refundable.
Who should not be treated?
Pregnant and breastfeeding women
If you have infections in the area: acne, herpes, or other local infections
If you have active cancer
If you take blood-thinning medication or have a blood disorder
Possible side effects?
Since PRP uses only your body’s own cells, side effects are rare. Immediately after treatment, there is a risk of mild to moderate swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising. These reactions usually disappear within a few days and in most cases within 1 week.
Infection is rare. If signs of infection appear, contact the clinic as antibiotic treatment may be necessary to reduce the risk of permanent scarring. Some may get a pimple-like rash in the treated area, and herpes cold sores can be reactivated.
