Salicylsyre Peeling

Salicylic acid peeling is a superficial chemical peel primarily used to treat oily and acne-prone skin. As a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA), salicylic acid penetrates deeply into the pores, where it effectively exfoliates dead skin cells and reduces sebum production. This process helps to clear clogged pores, reduce blackheads, and prevent future breakouts.

Additionally, salicylic acid has anti-inflammatory properties that soothe irritated skin, making the treatment particularly suitable for individuals with sensitive skin. The result is smoother and clearer skin with minimal downtime, allowing patients to quickly return to their daily routine.

Regular treatments can lead to long-term improvements in skin clarity and texture.

What is Salicylic Acid Peeling?

A peeling is a skin treatment using a chemical solution. Peelings can reduce irregularities in skin pigmentation, increase the formation of elastic fibers in the dermis, stimulate the production of new skin and the skin’s ground substance, which binds moisture in the skin.

Peelings can be used for acne, rosacea, acne scars, fine wrinkles, and pigmentation changes (including melasma). There are different types of peelings: very superficial peelings, usually performed by cosmetologists, and medium-depth peelings, performed by specially trained nurses and doctors.

Apex uses superficial peelings with Retinol, Jessner peelings, salicylic acid peelings, Ph peelings (only in Aalborg), and TCA peelings.

Salicylic acid peeling is especially effective against acne, rosacea, and melasma. Peelings are recommended every 4 weeks.

How is the treatment performed?

The skin must be free of makeup and then cleansed with alcohol and acetone to remove all dirt and oils. The peeling is applied or rubbed into the skin in several layers. Salicylic acid peeling causes a slight stinging and burning sensation on the skin.

For all types of peelings, it is important to avoid sun exposure completely as long as the skin is affected after the treatment. This means as long as there is slight redness, to prevent possible darkening of the skin.

You should avoid sports, sauna, chlorine, and swimming in natural bodies of water. Avoid direct water spray on the treated area to prevent premature peeling. Do not scratch, pick, itch, or touch the peeled area unnecessarily to reduce the risk of scarring and infection.

We always recommend using sunscreen both before and after the treatment with SPF 50+ including UVA and UVB protection.

What is the effect of the treatment?

After a few treatments, the result is visibly smoother and fresher skin with less acne and pigmentation, as well as improved skin texture. The result is essentially permanent, but like everyone’s skin, it will continue to age and new acne or pigmentation changes may appear, requiring maintenance treatments.

It is important to have an agreement on expectations before the treatment. Treatment refunds are not provided.

Who should not be treated?

  • Pregnant and breastfeeding women

  • If you have relevant allergies

  • If there is an active infection in the area, including active herpes

  • If recent surgery has been performed in the area

  • Use of Isotretinoin must have ended at least 1 month before the treatment

Possible side effects?

After a peeling, the skin appears whitish on the surface with slight redness shining through. Immediately after the peeling, the skin feels warm. In the following days, the skin tightens and becomes very dry.
