Offers a non-surgical approach to facial rejuvenation by stimulating the skin’s natural collagen production. Using poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), Sculptra gradually restores facial volume and smooths wrinkles and folds, such as smile lines and marionette lines. Unlike traditional fillers that provide immediate results, Sculptra works over time, with improvements becoming visible after a few weeks, and the optimal result typically achieved after 2–3 treatments spaced several weeks apart. The effect can last up to two years, providing a long-lasting solution for signs of facial aging. The treatment is suitable for those seeking a natural enhancement without the downtime associated with surgical procedures.

What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is made from lactic acid, a substance naturally found in the human body. Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) has been used in surgery for suturing skin for more than 30 years, and since 1999, millions of people have been treated with Sculptra. The lactic acid is injected into the skin and effectively stimulates the skin’s connective tissue (collagen), thereby rebuilding the skin’s thickness and giving it a more youthful appearance. By stimulating the skin’s natural collagen production, your skin gradually regains its fullness, smoothness, and vitality. Treatment with Sculptra does not provide an artificial replacement of lost volume via an implant. Instead, Sculptra reactivates your skin, resulting in a natural look.
Sculptra acts as a firming treatment, is 100% biodegradable, and disappears from the body as its effect diminishes over several years. Due to its natural properties, allergy testing is not necessary.
We recommend a course of 3 or more treatments over an agreed period to achieve the desired result.
Treatment with Sculptra should only be performed by dermatologists and plastic surgeons because of its longer-lasting effect compared to non-permanent fillers.
Which areas can be treated?
Sculptra in the face: Sculptra is used to rebuild the skin from within and is especially suitable for treating deep wrinkles, sagging skin, and deep folds around the nose and mouth, loose skin on the cheeks, and lost volume in the temples.
Sculptra on the body: Sculptra can also be used on the body, for example, to achieve a fuller and lifted buttocks or to reduce stretch marks or loose skin elsewhere on the body.
Sculptra on the buttocks is a large and costly treatment. It is important to understand that Sculptra cannot be compared to fat transfer or surgical implants. Sculptra enlarges the buttocks because skin and connective tissue grow. However, the size increase is not comparable to fat transfer, but Sculptra is better at improving skin texture and smoothing defects and cellulite. A more attractive and larger buttocks is also a result of Sculptra. Another advantage of Sculptra is that side effects are very minimal, making it a much safer treatment than fat transfer.
How is the treatment performed?
The product is injected into the desired treatment area with a very thin blunt needle. The treatment is not completely painless; a stinging and burning sensation may occur but will quickly subside. Numbing cream is not necessary as the product contains anesthetic. The treatment involves minimal discomfort and is easy to manage.
You should avoid touching the treated area for 4 hours after treatment to reduce the risk of infection. Makeup on the area is also discouraged during this time.
Until swelling has fully subsided, avoid extreme heat such as sun and sauna, and direct cooling with ice is also discouraged.
What is the effect of the treatment?
The treatment’s effect varies individually and depends on many factors, such as skin structure and the desired degree of perfection.
The treatment works gradually over about 6 months. Once your treatment plan is completed, the result lasts 2–4 years.
Sculptra is ideal for anyone who wants to initiate a rejuvenation of the skin’s natural structure. In certain cases, especially for clients over 70 years old, with severe sun damage, smoking habits, or genetic factors, the effect of Sculptra treatment may be absent because the skin cannot sufficiently regenerate collagen.
Typically, between 3 and 5 vials are used on the face. The treatment is done in 3 sessions. Usually, a “full face” treatment is necessary.
At a possible follow-up after the product has settled in the tissue, it is possible to add more product on top of the initial application if additional effect is needed. However, additional product cannot be expected to be provided free of charge. It is important to set expectations before treatment. Refunds are not provided for the treatment.
Who should NOT be treated?
Pregnant or breastfeeding women
If you have relevant allergies
If you have keloid or hypertrophic scars in the treatment area
If you are using steroids
If you have infections in the area: acne, herpes, or other local infections
If you have connective tissue diseases
If you have been treated with permanent fillers in the area
If you have active granulomas (lumps under the skin)
If you take immunosuppressants or blood-thinning medication
There should generally be at least 4 weeks between Sculptra and laser treatments. Always discuss with your practitioner regarding combining treatments.
Possible side effects?
Immediately after treatment, there is a risk of mild to moderate swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising. These reactions typically disappear within a few days and in most cases within 1 week.
It is important to massage the skin for 5 minutes daily for 5 days after the treatment.
Infection is rare. If signs of infection appear, contact the clinic as antibiotic treatment may be necessary to reduce the risk of permanent scarring. Some people develop acne-like eruptions in the treated area, and cold sores (herpes) can be reactivated.
Very rarely, small lumps under the skin may appear about 2 months after treatment due to collagen formation. These lumps are usually not visible but can be felt by touch.
In very rare cases (one in a thousand), lumps may become painful and inflamed. This is called granuloma formation (occurs months later) and requires treatment with antibiotics or steroid injections. This is an extremely rare side effect. In extreme cases (1 in millions), Sculptra can compress blood vessels, potentially leading to tissue necrosis.
Recommended aftercare (creams) to optimize treatment results
After Sculptra treatment, we recommend using effective creams that support the effect of your treatment.
C E Ferulic (day and night): Antioxidants for protection against skin aging – strengthens skin – protects against free radicals.
H A Intensifier (day): Supplies the skin with hyaluronic acid – a natural moisture binder that regulates moisture levels – provides volume and firmness – can be used in combination with fillers.
AGE Interrupter (day and night): Prevents and corrects typical signs of aging. Helps protect the skin’s barrier and reduces discomfort for dry, mature skin.
