TCA CROSS

It is a targeted method to improve deep scars, such as ice pick scars and scars from piercings, using trichloroacetic acid (TCA). By applying a concentrated acid directly into the base of the scar, the skin’s fibroblasts are stimulated to produce new collagen, causing the scar to lift and even out with the surrounding skin. The treatment is particularly effective for small, deep scars and can be combined with other methods such as subcision or laser for further improvement. Typically, 2-4 treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart are required for optimal results, and improvements can be seen after just a few weeks. TCA CROSS is suitable for all skin types and is performed by experienced dermatologists at DermoCosmetic. The treatment has minimal downtime, and any scabs or redness usually disappear within a week. Scientific studies have documented a reduction of scars by 70-100% after repeated treatment with TCA CROSS.

What is Salicylic Acid Peeling?

A peeling is a treatment of the skin using a chemical solution. Peelings can reduce irregularities in skin pigmentation, increase the formation of elastic fibers in the dermis, stimulate the formation of new skin and the skin’s ground substance, which binds moisture in the skin.

Peelings can be used for acne, rosacea, acne scars, fine wrinkles, and pigment changes (including melasma). There are several types of peelings. Completely superficial peelings, most often performed by beauticians, and medium-depth peelings, performed by specially trained nurses and doctors.

Apex uses superficial peelings with Retinol, Jessner peelings, salicylic acid peelings, pH peelings (only in Aalborg), as well as TCA peelings.

Salicylic acid peeling is particularly effective against acne, rosacea, and melasma. Peelings are recommended every 4 weeks.

How is the treatment performed?

The skin must be free of makeup and is then cleansed with alcohol and acetone to remove all dirt and grease. The peeling is applied or rubbed into the skin in several layers. Salicylic acid peeling stings and burns slightly on the skin.

For all types of peeling, it is important to avoid the sun completely while the skin is affected after the treatment. That means as long as there is slight redness in the skin, as this otherwise could cause darkening of the skin.

You should avoid sports, sauna, chlorine, and bathing in lakes. Avoid direct showering on the area so that water does not accelerate peeling prematurely. Avoid scratching, picking, itching, and unnecessary touching of the peeled area to reduce the risk of scarring and infection.

We always recommend using sunscreen both before and after the treatment with SPF 50+ including UVA and UVB filters.

What is the effect of the treatment?

The result after a few treatments is visibly smoother and fresher skin with less acne and pigmentation as well as a nicer skin texture. The result is essentially permanent, but like all skin, it will continue to age, and new acne elements or pigment changes may occur that require maintenance treatments.

It is important to have a clear agreement of expectations before the treatment. No refunds will be given for the treatment.

Who cannot be treated?

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women

  • If you have relevant allergies

  • If there is an active infection in the area, including active herpes

  • If recent surgery has been performed in the area

  • Use of Isotretinoin must have ended at least 1 month before treatment

Possible side effects?

After a peeling, the skin appears whitish on the surface with slight redness shining through. Immediately after the peeling, the skin feels warm. In the following days, the skin tightens and becomes very dry.
