Dear Community,
Recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a significant update to the labeling guidance for hormone therapy in women during menopause. The JAMA article “Updated labeling for menopausal hormone therapy” brings new optimism and prompts us to reconsider how we, as healthcare professionals, offer hormone and quality-of-life treatments.https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2841321

According to the authors, the new recommendation is based on a comprehensive review of recent scientific data. When hormone therapy is initiated early—within approximately 10 years after menopause or before the age of 60—studies now show that the benefits can be substantial: fewer hot flashes, night sweats, sleep problems, and mood swings, and just as importantly, long-term gains such as reduced risk of serious cardiovascular disease, fewer bone fractures, and possible protection against cognitive decline.https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2841321
At the same time, the FDA’s decision to remove the so-called “boxed warnings” from many hormone therapy products means that today’s discussion around hormone therapy can increasingly be based on individual assessment rather than generalized risks. This is a major step toward more nuanced, evidence-based medicine.https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2841321

For us at APEX Health & Aesthetics, this means that we can engage with our patients with renewed confidence: hormone balance and quality of life do not need to be synonymous with fear. With the right knowledge and close monitoring, hormone therapy can be a valuable tool to support women’s health during menopause.
We therefore encourage all women experiencing bothersome menopausal symptoms to book a consultation with us. We offer individually tailored hormone therapy, focusing on safety, quality, and balance, and are ready to review the benefits and any potential risks with you so you can make informed choices.
Med venlig hilsen,
